Eastbound I-40 closed for accident investigation

(McKinley County, New Mexico) – State police is closing eastbound I-40 at mile marker 33 for the investigation of a 3 vehicle accident. Eastbound I-40 traffic will be diverted onto the frontage road at mile marker/exit 26, continuing on the frontage road to miler marker 36 (approximately 10 miles). Traffic will be moving; however, it will be slow and there are heavy rains in the area. We urge motorist to exercise caution. The closure/traffic diversion is anticipated to last approximately 2 hours.
