Allstate Foundation Grants $5,000 to New Mexico State Police

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Allstate Foundation has awarded a grant of $5,000 to the New Mexico State Police to purchase decals and literature for the “Watch Your Car” auto theft prevention program.

The Allstate grant will be presented by Andrew Luck, Allstate Marketing Manager to New Mexico State Police Chief, Carlos R. Maldonado, on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at NMSP headquarters located at 4491 Cerrillos, Santa Fe, at 3:00 p.m. Luck has coordinated several auto theft prevention fairs in Albuquerque during the past five years.

Each car registered in the Watch Your Car program receives a special decal. The decal gives the police permission to stop the car and request proof of ownership, if the car is being driven during the high theft hours between 1:00 and 5 a.m., and at any time it is within 1 mile of the international border. Luck said the Watch Your Car program is one of the factors that have substantially reduced auto theft in New Mexico.

The Allstate Foundation is an independent corporation funded by contributions from Allstate Insurance Company. Foundation grants are awarded to non-profit organizations that seek to improve the quality of life in communities across the nation.
