DPS Issues First Concealed Carry Licenses

(Santa Fe, NM) The Department of Public Safety has issued the first licenses for citizens to carry concealed weapons. The first batch has been sent to those that have completed the application process and have passed the background check. The Concealed Carry Unit continues to process applications and complete background checks. Many applications have been returned because they did not include certified copies of birth certificates as required by the statute.
