Our Mission Statement

"To ensure the safe and legal operation of commercial motor vehicles."

District 3
Rowell, New Mexico

Serving the southeastern communities of
Roswell, Artesia, Carlsbad, Hobbs, Lovington, Portales and Clovis
"Our New Mexico Highways"

District Three is located in the South Eastern part of the state along the border with Texas. It is a very rural district with a large land area and a multitude of state and county roads crisscrossing it. There is a very high volume of local truck traffic back and forth from Texas and from community to community within this part of New Mexico due to the oil, gas, milk, farm and ranch industries.

MTD District three has four ports of entry regulating commercial vehicles entering or leaving New Mexico from Texas on major routes.

Carlsbad Port of Entry
The Carlsbad Port of Entry is open from three to five days a week with one civilian Transportation Inspector. Open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Located west of Carlsbad on U.S. 62/180 to work commercial traffic to, and from El Paso, Texas. This is also the route to the Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

Hobbs Port of Entry
Hobbs Port of Entry is opened from three to five days a week with one civilian inspector. It is located East of Hobbs, NM on U.S. 62/180 near the Texas border.

Tatum Port of Entry
Tatum Port of Entry is opened sporadically to work traffic from Lubbock, Texas and other West Texas communities. It is located on U.S. 380 and traffic runs East and West from Roswell, NM. The Bottomless Lakes State park is on this route.
