   MTPD Accomplishments

  • MTPD Rocking and Rolling Toll Free, Unsecured Load Hotline 1-866-630-5623.
  • Size and weight non-compliance rate has decreased during the period from 1992 to 2000.
  • All shipments to the WIPP site have been inspected by CVSA Enhanced Certified MTPD personnel.
  • MTPD successfully obtained grant funding from the Traffic Safety Bureau to fund overtime for Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) relating to CMV enforcement operations along Interstate 10 and Interstate 40.
  • MTPD is participating nationally as 1 of only 6 states to pilot a risk-based approach to prioritize commercial vehicle crash issues for the United States Department of Transportation.
  • MTPD CVSA driver/vehicle safety inspections increased by 8.5% (47,528 to 51,610).
  • Inspector David Abeita was named International Grand Champion during the North American Inspector Championship held in August 2000.
  • Commercial Motor Vehicle out-of-service rate has decreased 17% from 1997 to 2000.
  • Driver out-of-service rate has decreased 30% from 1997 to 2000.
  • In 2006, MTPD drug interdiction efforts have seized 27,946 pounds of Marijuana and Cocaine and seized over $2.5 million dollars.
