Sandoval County– On Monday, May 20, 2013; New Mexico State Police attended and participated in the Torreon day school “Safety Day.” The Torreon Day School is located on the Navajo Nation and schools children kindergarten through high school.
The State Police District 5, Cuba sub-district, covers a large portion of the Navajo Nation and often responds to calls for service on the reservation. All Cuba sub-district State Police Officers are cross commissioned by the Navajo Nation.
State Police set up mock DWI arrests and alcohol related crash investigations. Also part of this mock scenario, State Police Officers stressed and the importance of not to drink and drive. Lastly, the children were warned of the dangers of underage drinking and the consequences that accompany it.
New Mexico State Police passes on this information to all young children and families to ensure a fun and safe summer vacation.
