Santa Fe County–State Police has deployed 72 AED (Automated External Defibrillators) units out to the districts. State Police is comprised of 12 districts. Each district has received two AEDs.
State Police has also supplied two AEDs to its Tactical Team and one to the Bomb Team. State Police will be making an investment in the very near future to make sure an additional 80 units are operational and ready for deployment to the districts.
On April 9, 2013; The Heart Hospital of New Mexico Foundation and Lovelace Medical Center generously donated $15,000 to the New Mexico State Police to purchase automated external defibrillators.
Through this partnership, heart attack victims living in rural New Mexico have a decreased mortality rate.
