Santa Fe – The New Mexico State Police will be participating in the final DWI Super Blitz of the summer. The Super Blitz will run from August 17 through September 4, 2012, which also coincides with the National DWI Mobilization.
During this final summer Super Blitz, State Police Officers throughout New Mexico will conduct 25 Sobriety Checkpoints and 67 DWI Saturation Patrols to deter drunk driving and arrest those who choose to drive after drinking.
Alcohol is involved in 40-percent of all fatal traffic crashes in New Mexico which makes alcohol-related traffic fatalities the single largest factor in this state’s traffic deaths. In spite of making significant progress toward reducing DWI crashes, intoxicated drivers continue to plague New Mexico’s highways and roads.
Remember: Even a small amount of alcohol can impair your ability to operate a vehicle safely. If you make the decision to drink and then drive, you will be stopped and you will be arrested.
