Rio Arriba County – The New Mexico State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are soliciting the public’s assistance in locating the following suspect for shooting at Jicarilla Tribal Police yesterday afternoon near Dulce, New Mexico.
On July 10, 2012, Jicarilla Tribal Police initiated a traffic stop on Mr. Sherwood. After a short pursuit Sherwood got out of his vehicle and began to fire an automatic weapon at officers. Sherwood fled into the mountains outside of Monero, east of Dulce, New Mexico.
Sherwood abandoned his vehicle and escaped on foot. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt, a blue jacket and a baseball cap.
State Police and the FBI are actively searching the area for Mr. Sherwood. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone with any information is urged to contact New Mexico State Police at (505)753-2277.
Sherwood is considered ARMED and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
