ALBUQUERQUE-The Special Investigations Division of the Department of Public Safety will make its presence known at this weekend’s New Mexico Centennial Summerfest in downtown Albuquerque. The SID will be on hand to make sure all liquor laws are being followed both by patrons and servers.
“This is the department’s ongoing effort to support local law enforcement and provide a safe environment for this community celebration,” said DPS Cabinet Secretary Gorden Eden.
SID Director Bill Hubbard echoed the Secretary’s comments adding “We just want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy themselves.”
The Special Investigations Division is a division of the Department of Public Safety. SID Officers have statewide law enforcement jurisdiction and enforce both administrative regulations and criminal codes. The SID is the designated lead agency for the enforcement of New Mexico’s Liquor Control Act (NMSA 60-3-1 through 60-12-10) and a major contributor in the state’s effort to reduce DWI.
The Division performs a wide range of Enforcement and Regulatory activities statewide including premise inspection at licensed liquor establishments and compliance operations (underage enforcement operations and tobacco compliance).
