Santa Fe — On Saturday, July 28, 2012 local law enforcement teams performed a DWI Warrant Operation in Santa Fe County, during this operation there were 66 attempts, and 3 warrant arrests. The 3 warrants consisted of one DWI warrant, and two felony warrants. The two felony warrants involved the crimes of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, kidnapping, and criminal sexual penetration.

Santa Fe County “Operation Descansos” started September 26, 2010 when the Santa Fe New Mexican published the names and photos of offenders in Santa Fe County who have outstanding DWI warrants. Since the beginning of the program in September 2010, 1236 DWI warrants served through arrests and surrenders.

The Department of Public Safety Special Investigations Division supported by the Santa Fe Underage Drinking Prevention Alliance in collaboration with the Santa Fe Police Department and the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office conduct monthly warrant roundups for DWI offenders who refuse to comply with the law, thanks to funding of the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

In addition, Crime Stoppers has offered a reward to anyone with information regarding crimes or the location of DWI offenders with outstanding DWI warrants. Callers will remain anonymous and could earn a reward of up to $2000 for information that leads to an arrest in these cases.
