SANTA FE- The New Mexico Department of Public Safety’s prescription drug take-back program continues to show positive results. This week the DPS Special Investigations Division, which heads the take-back program, will be taking one hundred and thirty-one pounds of unwanted pills to be incinerated.
The DPS program started on April 24, 2012 and to date has collected over two hundred and fifty pounds of unwanted prescription drugs.
The Department of Public Safety has a collection box at its Special Investigations Division in Albuquerque at 6301 Indian School Road, Suite 310. It’s available for drop-offs during regular business hours, closed from noon-1 p.m.
Being one of the top states for prescription drug overdoses the DPS take-back program is just another way of making sure prescription drugs are used only for their intended purpose.
