Santa Fe County- At the beginning of 2013; the New Mexico State Police started the ground work in a community messaging service. The name of this system is Nixle. This system pushes alerts and advisories to the cell phone numbers via text to the individuals that sign up for it. It will also send messages to an email address.
“Nixle provides communities throughout the country with news and information that is both proximate and personally relevant. Our technology is critical in creating new communication paths that have never existed before.” (1)
With this latest and greatest technology, the New Mexico State Police can enhance its initiatives to push out relevant, important, need to know information to New Mexico’s residents.
“I am pleased that State Police is coming up in the technical eruditeness of being able to utilize such a system to keep the residents of the Great State of New Mexico informed and up to speed” Robert W. Shilling, New Mexico State Police.
State Police will push out traffic alerts, road closures, severe weather alerts, amber alerts, silver alerts, etc.
