Joint Law Enforcement Efforts to Patrol US 550

Santa Fe — New Mexico State Police in conjunction with the Navajo Nation, San Juan Sheriff’s Department and DPS Special Investigations Division have agreed to conduct joint efforts in patrolling US 550.

The agreement will increase patrols along US 550 from Bloomfield to Cuba and will strengthen safety for the travelers and residents along the roadway.

The parties have agreed that to share a Navajo Police substation to conduct briefings and operation plans.

State Police Major Darren Soland says “We have secured additional funding to conduct DWI projects on this highway and look forward to working with our fellow agencies in providing a safer highway to all who travel this busy corridor within our state”.

Department of Public Safety Secretary Gorden Eden stated “I firmly believe the path we are on is the right path”.

Operational plans are being drawn up at this time and are set to be put in place by January 27, 2012.
