Taos County– At approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning, State Police officers responded to an airplane crash on West Rim Road Trail in Taos County. The airplane went down just off the West Rim Road Trail with two occupants inside.
The occupants were later identified by James Thompson (57) and Angela Thompson (42) of Dallas, Texas. Both occupants were transported out of the area via Care Flight to Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico with non-life threatening injuries.
The airplane departed a Taos airport and was flying over trail-heads when for an undetermined reason the airplane went down in the mountains west of Taos. The couple have a summer home in the Taos area.
The airplane sustained heavy structural damage and the FAA will be investigating the cause of the plane crash.
