A two month investigation into a Major Heroin Drug Trafficking Organization which was operating in Bernalillo, Rio Arriba, and Santa Fe Counties concluded last week with five people being arrested.
The operation was conducted by the Region III Narcotics Task Force, which is made up of Agents from the New Mexico State Police, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department, and Santa Fe City Police Department.
Also assisting with the investigation was the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) from Albuquerque and the Albuquerque Police Department. The Drug Trafficking Organization was trafficking in large amounts of heroin.
The people arrested were: Hector Manuel-Martinez (Mexico) DOB: 08/09/86, Arthur Quintana (Espanola) DOB: 08/29/78, Mary Barela (Espanola) DOB: 09/20/87, Joshua Montoya (Chimayo) DOB: 02/20/89, and Clarissa Ortega (Chimayo) 12/06/90.
They are facing federal and state charges. A total of 8.5 pounds of heroin with an estimated street value of $400,000, 72.6 grams of powder cocaine, 39.8 grams of methamphetamine, 200 prescription pills, two vehicles, a handgun, and $12,735.00 was collected during the investigation.
